چکیده

The isothermal age-hardening behaviour in the commercial dental gold alloys containing palladium was studied by means of resistometric, hardness, X-ray and electron microscopy. Drastic overageing occurred following prolonged ageing. The mechanism of the overageing was interpreted as a loss of coherency at the interfaces of the adjacent lamellae which consists of the equilibrium AuCu I ordered phase and the silver-rich ƒ¿2 phase.

Corrosion properties of Ag-Au-Cu-Pd system alloys containing indium.

In this study, the corrosion resistance of Ag-Au-Cu-Pd system alloys consisting of 5 or 10 mass% indium was evaluated. Levels of element release and tarnish were determined and electrochemical measurements performed. Results were compared with those for commercial silver-palladium-gold alloy. In terms of electrochemical behavior, the transpassive potential of these experimental alloys was 168-2...

Galvanic Corrosion Behavior of Dental Alloys

There is a wide variety of dental alloys, ranging from nearly pure gold and conventional gold-based alloys to alloys based on silver, palladium, nickel, cobalt, iron, titanium, tin, and other metals (Table 1). The types of dental alloys have increased significantly since 1980s in order to change the market price of gold and palladium. Although gold alloys are the mate‐ rials of choice in this a...

The Hardening of Platinum Alloys for Potential Jewellery Application

60) to be used for fabricating jewellery, so alloying additions are made to increase the hardness. Platinum jewellery alloys usually have platinum contents of 90 wt.% and higher. The most common alloys are hallmarked as 950 platinum (95 wt.%). Unlike carat gold (Au) jewellery alloys, where relatively large additions can be made (to alter the properties of the alloy such as its hardness or colou...

Precipitation hardening in a dental low-gold alloy.

Age-hardening characteristics in a dental low-gold alloy composed of 40.0 wt% Au-35.0 wt% Ag-7.9 wt% Pd-7.0 wt% Cu-5.0 wt% In-3.5 wt% Zn-1.5 wt% Sn, were investigated by means of the hardness test, XRD study, SEM observations and EPMA. The following results were obtained. The age-hardening was characterized by a precipitation of Cu-rich alpha2 phase in the a phase. The softening that occurred f...

A comparative study on the bond strength of porcelain to the millingable Pd-Ag alloy

PURPOSE The porcelain fused to gold has been widely used as a restoration both with the natural esthetics of the porcelain and durability and marginal fit of metal casting. However, recently, due to the continuous rise in the price of gold, an interest towards materials to replace gold alloy is getting higher. This study compared the bond strength of porcelain to millingable palladium-silver (P...
